Where are the Kleenex?

He woke up at 4:30 every morning. Watched the Weather Channel until the 10 day forecast popped up. Made  a fresh batch of Folger’s. Set 2 coffee cups on the kitchen table in their designated spots – along with 2 cereal bowls, 2 spoons, & 2 napkins. Fed the cat & then he’d leave. 

  
He’d hop in his trusty, gray Chevy to head to Mr. Donut – to gather the real news from his friends waiting for him. And after one quick cup of straight, black coffee – he’d head back home to eat cereal & read the newspaper with Mom. 

The night of his Wake – before we laid him to rest for his funeral – a line of older gentlemen waited to hug me & personally give me their condolences. 

One-by-one they greeted me. Hugged me tight. And said how much they enjoyed Dad’s coffee shop…
